THE TASTY BITS THIS WEEK
Special Feature Story of the Week
-Our new premier striker Kris Boyd Scores in the 7th minute of his debut game for the Timbers against Swedens AIK! It was a fantastic header he received from Jorge Perlazza. We all hope that is the first of MANY MANY this year!
-Last Tuesday Mamado Danso has his foot broken during practice. Apparently caused by Bright Dike! We all feel terrible for Footy, but you have to be impressed that Dike is working that hard even at practice!
-Team players in haiku http://oregonsports.com/haiku/its-your-timbers-guide-to-2012
Here is the one for Team Captain Jack Jewsbury
He is Captain Jack
Beloved by all his teammates
Rock in the midfield
-Kick off for the home opener is at 6.55 and will be televised on espn 2!
Each week I check in with Marshall Kirkpatrick for the latest in Tech news and tweets. Whether he is tirelessly building his new project Plexus Engine or continuing his work with Read Write Web, Marshall always has his finger on the crystal ball of whats new in the world of technology. This week I will show you a few things that are inspiring us and we think are totally awesome.
-Dropbox is an amazing tool that everyone should use. Here is a description from Wikipedia. Dropbox is a web-based file hosting service that uses cloud storage to enable users to store and share files and folders with others across the Internet using file synchronization. I personally use it to feed my Portland Scramble podcast to web where my website picks it up AND iTunes. Did I mention that it works with iPhones and other mobile devised also…
-It just got a FACE-LIFT! The old version was clunky and awkward at times and did not use the same short cuts and key strokes we are used to. The new front end makes it so you hardly notice you are not working in your own pc files! There are many new features, but of special interest to me are the photo viewer and bulk drag and drop features. I will be using these new changes almost daily! SO you can be almost anywhere and if you want to show someone a picture you have on your home pc, and you have your smart phone handy, Dropbox can be your seamless interface…Very Nice Dropbox!

SPECIAL SUPPORTLAND TIDBIT
-There are fantastic bars and restaurants around Jeld-wen to meet up with friends at before Timbers games…it all started with the bullpen back in the USL days. We went for the first time in 2005. The Timbers army would meet there before games and after…BUT the crowds here really grew as the popularity of the Timbers Army grew along with the interest in the international flavor of the sport! There was not enough room at the Bullpen, so the crowds of fans started spreading to all the other watering holes around the park and in downtown Portland. The Bitter End is still enormously popular are many other downtown bars that cater to soccer fans! Here is a link to some of the favorites.

-Along with the places to go before and after Home games, The Portland Timbers ALSO have what they call Pub Partners that hose away game viewing Parties! Here is a link to those restaurants and pubs.

Each of these bars get One Away game to really promote their stuff. There are usually give always and food and drink specials plus they get the extra advertisement from the Portland Timbers Front Office! HOWEVER, most of these place will still show ALL the games home OR away since we know that actually getting tickets to games at home has become very difficult. Of those on the list, my favorite and local pub is Thatchers on SE Stark street. The crowd there us usually pretty passionate and there are TONS of TV’s. I have also heard the Prost! and Rose and Thistle are great places to enjoy the games. WHERE EVER you go, please just go and support the local restaurants and bars that support the Timbers. ALSO remember to be responsible, TIP WELL, and have a blast cheering on the Portland Timbers!
