THE TASTY BITS THIS WEEK
Special Feature Story of the Week
-Last Wednesday, the Professional Portland Timbers seemed to miss the memo that our Pitch is actually synthetic and inadvertently fertilized the entire field against Amateur Club Cal FC. We lost 1-0 in extra time in the Lamar Hunt Open cup…That is the end of Timbers Time on this weeks show. Lets hope some of that fertilizer the Timbers dropped all over the field soaks in and the Front Office realizes that the Portland Rangers slash Timbers aren’t nearly as menacing as the Scottish version of the club. Just ’cause they were once on a successful club does not make them successful. Why would they leave their family and friends if they were a commodity in Europe! By the way, nice PK attempt there Kris!!! Cooper style eh!!! Well, I’ll come back to more positive Timbers coverage next week when I am less astonished and embarrassed! Hopefully some changes will be made by then! (crappy link here)
Each week I check in with Marshall Kirkpatrick for the latest in Tech news and tweets. Whether he is tirelessly building his new project Plexus Engine or continuing his work with Read Write Web, Marshall always has his finger on the crystal ball of whats new in the world of technology. This week I will show you a few things that are inspiring us and we think are totally awesome.
-What do you think of this tweet from Marshall? preparing to tell an epic story about the internet. What do you suppose he is talking about…I think it is his AMAZING and POWERFUL PLEXUS engine….I may have inside information, but this motor might break some information speed records! Because THEN he tweeted this things are getting untweetably awesome over here right now. It is possible that I know more than I should, but I am equally excited about the direction that Marshall’s project is taking…There will be more news in the near future I am sure!
-On the political front, a strange way to realize how republicans cling to the false prosperity of the Bush Era and the increasing need for a Reagen like candidate to take over the GOP, check out this disturbing twitter hash tag #describeObamaInThreeWords! I hope I am not the only American one who realizes how terrible BOTH Bush’s were to our country and our international reputation. And if any one actually needs this, can anyone stomach this early MTV Staple??? Go to our website to get a link! Phill Collin and Genesis Poking mad fun of Reagan and all his Warmongering!
SPECIAL SUPPORTLAND TIDBIT
Back on February 19th, I mentioned doing the 34th Portland Starlight Run! Well, it was last night, and although I did not get a team together like I had hoped, I did have the Honor of joining my brother Tadd Reaney for his 25th Starlight Run IN A ROW!!! Proof is on the website. My brother is in Orange and I am wearing the headband! It was a blast to run along side children and grandparents in costumes and smiles running through the closed off streets of downtown Portland. The Route ends with the last mile being mostly all up hill and I am certainly feeling it today, but I will totally do it again, and I hope my Brother keeps it up. Many of his friends and students, past and present were there and it was awesome being a part of such a Band of Brothers and Sisters. Next year I need to beat 29 minutes and 50 seconds. At the time of this post, an official number of participants has not been announced but they figured the numbers to be above4500, which would have made this a record breaking year! When I mentioned the run back in February, they organizers had not yet decided on a charity to sponsor. Well, they did come up with one and in fantastic fashion, kept it close to Portland and Athletics by supporting the Bald Face Truth Foundation. The BFTF was the brainchild of Oregonian Columnist and Radio Talk Show Host John Canzano. This is from their website. Since 2009, the Bald Faced Truth Foundation has awarded grants that helped more than 10,000 kids participate in arts, music, education and athletics activities. Grants ranged from field trips to instrument rentals to sports participation fees and theater/sports/band camps. And although we can agree that we all do not always agree with the Bald One, his heart is certainly in the right place with this Community Driven Portland Scramble. Keep up the good work John!
