THE TASTY BITS THIS WEEK
Special Feature Story of the Week
-Another end of game avalanche of defensive errors yesterday allowed Landon Donavon, David Beckham, and Juninho erase the first half one – nil lead. Kris Boyd had his third goal of the season during the 23rd minute giving the Away Timbers the lead. He had another shot find the back of the net a little bit later, but it was called off due to an off side decision by the line ref. Beckhams goal will not doubt be a candidate for goal of the week.
-There is going to need to be some serious analysis done by the Timbers during the next 5 days. This Saturday they play host to Sporting Kansas City who remain UNDEFEATED this season! That game is set to kick off at 7.30. Lets hope for some confidence building as we hopefully take out the leagues best team in front of the home crowd!
Each week I check in with Marshall Kirkpatrick for the latest in Tech news and tweets. Whether he is tirelessly building his new project Plexus Engine or continuing his work with Read Write Web, Marshall always has his finger on the crystal ball of whats new in the world of technology. This week I will show you a few things that are inspiring us and we think are totally awesome.
-On my very first show on January 1st, Marshall told us about Now I Know by Dan Lewis, a daily email of really cool information…or news…or just awesome trivia. Well now Dan Lewis has a new website that is also full of fun information. This one is called Fact And A Photo and I already have it feeding into my Flipboard on my phone. You absolutely HAVE to check it out…You will be shocked to know how pineapples grow or what a cashew looks like on the tree!
-While hanging out with Marshall this past Friday, Marshall completely overwhelmed me with the depth of knowledge he has in the field of social media as it pertains to technology and what is possibly in the future. He let me know that the launch of his Plexus Engine will be this summer. It will be great to see a friends hard work come to life.
-and on the themes of memes! Marshall gave us cool link to Mozilla memes! www.mozillamemes.tumblr.com
SPECIAL SUPPORTLAND TIDBIT
Between 82nd and 76th on SE Stark Street is a business district called Montavilla and since I moved into the area in 1992, I have seen it change in so many ways! Where there were once Prostitutes, Biker Gangs and Drug dealers, there are now less prostitutes, less drug dealers and minimal gangs…BUT if it were any ‘cleaner’ it wouldn’t be our neighborhood. If I wanted something tamer, I would move to Beaverton! There have been restaurants and bars here since the beginning, and Lewis Rents, Mr. Plywood and The Flying Pie have been staples. But in 2005 when the Bi-Partisan Cafe opened, the whole neighborhood opened up to the idea of having a shopping district that was more than renting heavy machinery, finding that perfect piece of wood paneling, or getting drunk of cheap booze…unfortuantly, since the Bi-Partisan hipped the hood up, cheap anything is kind of rare! We have pie shops, dress shops, sushi bar, sake bar, and just regular eatery’s and bars! Starting with Chinese Village, then Roscos, then Montavilla Station, then Ya Hala, then The Country Cat, then The Vintage, and lastly, my favorite, Thatchers. I like Thatchers best because it is not a hipster bar, or swanky club, or old time dive bar. They feature sports on 7 big TV’s, delicious house smoked meats, perfect tatter tots, and they SUPPORT the Timbers! That is a Portland Scramble I can always enjoy. Where ever you go in Montavilla, just know you will love it because we aren’t very high on ourselves and frankly don’t know why you haven’t been coming over the top of Mt Tabor for years already!!!
