THE TASTY BITS THIS WEEK
Special Feature Story of the Week
-A really cool video by Uncage the Soul productions of the opening night can be seen on this Vimeo link. ttp://vimeo.com/38961384 It is a minute and a half long time-lapse collage of the entire opening evening and is a part of a larger project called Finding Portland to be unveiled later in April.
-Coach Spenser recognizes how difficult it is to have so many potential starters at the attacking positions but admits it is a great problem to have! PortlandTimbers.com link.
-Well, yesterday in Foxboro, Mass. in New England, Saer Sène scored his first MLS goal after 28 seconds to hand New England its first victory of the season with a 1-0 result over Portland at Gillette Stadium. It was the first loss of the season for the Timbers and even though we had many chances to get one or more goals back, the defense for the revolution always forced one more touch, kick, or re-direct and we never could get the ball on frame. We left with three yellow cards and a broken nose…Better luck next Saturday against Real Salt Lake at 7 pm at HOME again in front of the Army and a strong hunger for WINS!
Each week I check in with Marshall Kirkpatrick for the latest in Tech news and tweets. Whether he is tirelessly building his new project Plexus Engine or continuing his work with Read Write Web, Marshall always has his finger on the crystal ball of whats new in the world of technology. This week I will show you a few things that are inspiring us and we think are totally awesome.
Time Magazine put out a list top 140 tweets of 2012 so far this…TOP 2012 TWEETS SO FAR

Highlights of some of Marshals Tweets and Retweets this last week include cash mobs, Texts messages to parents in Brazil when their kids don’t show up to school, and President Barak Obama Recognizing Sign language and saying hello to a deaf supporter. A Cash Mob where a large group of people who have been organized through social media all show up and shop, business or whatever and spend their 5’s 10’s and 20’s there to boost their local economy. In Brazil, parents get texts when a child of theirs does not pass through a special ‘detector’ that signals in on a electrical sensor embedded in their cloths. And if you want to remember what it is like to support the United States President who is savvy and capable of being socially and intellectually compassionate in any situation, check out this link. You will remember why we voted for him then and should again! Barak has never made the news because he choked on pretzels, BUT DOES understand how to acknowledge and respect the less fortunate! The LINKS to all these tweets and retweets can be found on PortlandScramble.com… Please go there and remember to follow Marshall on Twitter if you want to learn more!
SPECIAL SUPPORTLAND TIDBIT
Every now and then in March, the miracle of the Sunshine wrestles its way through snow, rain, clouds, and cold and we all look around at the daffodils and crocus that have reminded us for about a month that it may be time to do a little plant husbandry. Once you have the green thumb itch, there is no greater place to open up your wallet or purse than Portland Nursery. Their slogan ‘a passion for plants, a nursery for plant people’ has been a mantra they have followed since 1907 it has had a few different owners but claims the same commitment to local employment and fantastic selection. Portland Nursery has two locations, the original on SE 90th and Division and the new one which opened in 1991 on SE 50th and Stark.
I can claim with pride and prove with pictures that our yard has benefited from their amazing selection through the years and love everything we have bought from them, BUT be weary of the passion fruit vine. It tends to run a bit…BUT that was my fault. I chose the plant, not Portland Nursery.
WHEN shopping at either of their locations you WILL find a knowledgeable staff, extensive selection of indoor and outdoor plants, fertilizers and tools, books and sprinklers, hats and gloves, and even ORCHIDS and LADYBUGS. I know there are lots of Hardware and Department stores in Portland that offer plants and nursery stock, but nothing supports the local community and has for over a century like Portland Nursery does. Next time you need the perfect gift for ANY holiday, don’t forget to visit Portland Nursery! The Next time you need the perfect flower for you yard, don’t forget to visit Portland Nursery. You may end up leaving there with TWO green Thumbs and a renewed inspiration for FLOWERS…A Very Horticultural Portland Scramble. http://www.portlandnursery.com/
